Xochimilco, Mexico. A remnant of the Aztec empire’s infrastructure which has become a hallmark of Mexico City’s beauty. Recent climate change and increased contamination of the lake’s waters has posed threats to its ecosystem and livelihood of the trajineras’ rowers. In a city with ubiquitous contamination, poverty, and corruption, how does one preserve and fight for its heritage, beauty, and justice when resources are spread so thin?
