This young woman is one of the beneficiaries of the Nyamirambo Women’s Center in Kigali, Rwanda. The center was started by Rwandese women in 2007 as a project to combat gender-based violence and gender inequality. Today, one of their projects trains and employs women from the community as seamstresses to create women’s fashion, children’s clothing, and home décor items. The center not only provides benefits and fair wages, but also a safe space for the women’s children in the form of a library.
