We managed a clinic in Chichicastenango one day out of a three-story building downtown. The first floor held the waiting room and clinic, the second another clinic area and a children’s play area, and the third a kitchen with women laughing and cooking the entire day. I was mainly on the first floor, making announcements to patients in the waiting room and attempting my average Spanish to make the locals laugh. The younger of the sisters in this photo was sick, and her big sister was given the task of taking her to the clinic that day. I asked if she felt good enough to take a photo, and the big sister said she did. I snapped this in the doorway of the clinic as traffic zoomed by outside.
